Literature Text

Satan: Jesus. Jesus.

(Jesus sees a dark figure before him.)

Jesus: Who's there?

Satan: (coming forward) Jesus. I know you.

Jesus: (in recognition) Satan.

Satan: You are weak, Jesus. Forty days without a crumb of bread, without a drop of water. It is a miracle that you are still alive. Truly, you have suffered greatly.

Jesus: I will suffer far greater things than these.

(Satan picks up a rock and offers it to Jesus.)

Satan: Take these stones. The power of God is in you. Take these stones and turn them into bread. Surely, there is no need for the Son of God to perish with hunger. Go on, Jesus. Do it. Not only will your hunger be satisfied, but I will fall at your feet and worship you forever.

(Jesus looks at the rock for a moment, then drops it back to the ground.)

Jesus: It is written that man shall not live on bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. I will not forfeit my eternal place merely to satisfy my temporary needs. You know who I am, and I know what you are. Get away from me, Satan.

(Satan walks away, leaving Jesus to himself...for now.)
Another story from the Bible that I plan to (eventually) convert to comic form. You could say this is the "script" I'm working with. Knowing the text helps me to figure out how the art should look. This is one of my favorite stories from the New Testament. Imagine how many people there were in the Bible who lost their place in heaven for the sake of their worldly desires.

No flames on this, if you would be so kind. I am as entitled to my opinions and beliefs as you are to yours.

It's awesome how Jesus handled Satan like that.
