And now for a more positive entry.

I finally did it, mates. I finally sat down and watched Zootopia from start to finish. (It was my family who insisted, considering I'd asked for the DVD on my birthday.) Now I understand 100% what all the hype's about. This is a movie worth getting stoked about.

Even though I already knew what to expect (having stolen some "peeks" on YouTube and Wikipedia), I have to applaud these guys for the delicious twists they provided. Especially with Dawn Bellwether. Just like with Prince Hans, they did a most impressive job at concealing and revealing her true colors. She was just so sweet and unassuming for two-thirds of the show; who'd have remotely considered that she was the criminal mastermind all along? Talk about a ba-a-a-a-ad girl!

I was surprised at the bits of swearing in this movie, and at some of the obvious innuendos and the references to The Godfather, but otherwise I have no complaints.

What are my thoughts on Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde?

Judy's now included on my list of female heroes. She's smart, spunky, and strong, with a cuteness to boot.

Nick is a real foxy dude with a heart of 24-karat gold. And yes, he's included on my list of male heroes.

Both Nick and Judy's character growth is nothing short of phenomenal. It's extremely powerful when Nick demands to know if Judy's afraid of him, and when they hug and make up under the bridge, and it's only fitting that Judy's the one to pin Nick's badge on him in the end. (May I say, Nick looks super-hot in full cop getup, sunglasses and all.)

Do I ship Nick and Judy as a couple?

I guess I wouldn't complain (not too much) if they became a canon couple, but I kind of like them better as platonic partners. Sure, I'm a hopeless romantic, but it's refreshing now and then to have a show where the main characters love each other as brother and sister and don't always "hook up" in the end.

I'm not a fan of Shakira, but her song "Try Everything" won me over. It's now included in my personal music collection.

The themes of overcoming racism and following your dreams despite all the naysayers (while at the same time being a little smart about those dreams) are extremely applicable to our day.

On a side note, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the actor who plays Mayor Lionheart also plays Tenzin (one of my favorites) in The Legend of Korra.

Like I always say, I'm usually skeptical of a movie in the beginning and I'm very picky about what I do watch. I was as skeptical of Zootopia as I'd been of any other movie.

Now that I have seen it for myself, on a scale of 1 to 10, I give this one a 20.

And who knows? You may even see a few "fan art" pieces from me in the future.

That's about it for now. Ciao.

Nice review :)
I loved Zootopia. Great message and fun to watch, with all sorts of great little Easter eggs. "Try Everything" became my personal anthem and I'm actually working on a Judy Hopps cosplay!
