By now, I'm sure most of you have already heard about the ghastly terror attack in Manchester, England, the one that took place just after Ariana Grande's concert.

And, as usual, I'm seeing the hate toward Muslims and religion flaring up anew.

One person on Facebook wrote (and this is the way they really wrote it): "BAN ALL RELIGIONS!"

I don't think people truly understand what they're saying when they propose we eliminate religion.

As anyone who's done their history knows, countless people have fled to other countries in pursuit of religious liberty. That's how we ended up here in the States in the first place.

Do the Pilgrims ring any bells? The Puritans? The Mormons?

According to this article I found, "
Religious freedom is more than just the freedom to believe what you want. It’s also the freedom to talk about and act on your core beliefs without interference from government or others, except when necessary to protect health and safety. It also allows people with similar beliefs to form religious organizations that govern their own affairs."

Along with the freedom to believe what you want comes the freedom NOT to believe what you want.

So people are proposing that we also throw away their freedom NOT to participate in any organized group or adopt any particular mindset.

They're saying that if a person shouldn't have to believe in God, a person shouldn't have to NOT believe in God, either.

It's like a teenager saying that there shouldn't be any "rules." By that logic, this teenager is saying a difference between right and wrong should never exist.

Meaning nobody could do anything wrong or right.

Meaning our entire existence here is completely pointless.

And what good has religion done for us all this time, others ask? That's like asking what good soap has done for us all this time. I mean, we're always getting dirty, and we'll always keep getting dirty. So what's the point in having soap?

Banning all religions would not only be impossible, but honestly people would end up making new ones anyway, even if it had to be in secret
