All my other buddies are doing this, and it's DA's birthday, so why not?
My story's nothing fancy. I had been watching SilverFlameWanderer on her Elfwood account (I was an anonymous user) and she began to post more of her art here, claiming she liked this site much better.
Eventually she persuaded me to make a DA account for myself. Since it was free, I decided to give it a try, and here I am!
I didn't have too much trouble picking out my username. My only problem was I couldn't decide between "skydancer08" and "unicorn-skydancer08." Obviously, you know which one I settled for. "Unicorn" stems from my not-so-secret love of unicorns, and I picked up "skydancer" from Arabella Skydancer in Bruce Coville's Unicorn Chronicles. And "08" represents 2008, the year I joined this place.
In the six years that followed, I've had a lot of ups and downs here. I've made (and lost) some amazing friends; I never had a lot of friends outside the Internet. My drawing and writing have made tremendous improvement (and there's plenty of room for more), and on the whole, I can't say I've regretted joining DA and I plan to stick around for a good while longer.
