Hey mates, a very merry Christmas to you all!
How's my Christmas been (so far)? Well, obviously, Dad's absence is felt keenly. (Who would have thought the Christmas of 2014 would have been his last?) It was just me and Mom to wrap the presents and organize the stockings this time. And my sister and hubby will not be joining us this year, because things between us haven't been quite patched up yet and we're actually legally obligated to keep a distance from my brother-in-law for the time being. (Yes, he's facing legal charges right now.) I haven't seen him for several months now, and I don't know what I'm going to do when I see him again, though I will admit I've missed him.
Still, the day hasn't been too bad, not as bad as we had been expecting. Not spectacular, not awful...that's probably the best way to describe it.
This year, I haven't been too choosy about presents. But there were a few things I mentioned that would be nice to have. I definitely needed a new watch and new shoes, and I got both. My new watch is a baby-blue color and my new shoes are white with blue trim.
I also got a new coat, new undergarments, a necklace, some bracelets (one of which contains my birthstone), a soft red robe, a soft pair of Dr. Seuss pajamas (the pants show the Cat in the Hat), some body wash and spray from Bath & Body Works (one of my favorite stores in the world), a plastic unicorn, and a decent-sized kit of acrylic paints with an acrylic pad to go with it. I did give special mention to art supplies, and I'm considering taking up painting in 2016.
There are also a couple of new Wii games for the whole family to share, and a little Air Hockey set, too.
Now we're about to have breakfast: pancakes with strawberries, bacon, and scrambled eggs, with chocolate milk and orange juice.
If the weather permits, we might visit Dad's grave for a bit (Mom got him a poinsettia) and then hang out with my grandparents.
That's about it, I guess.
