My mom just got back from the court, and she filled me in on what's going on.
Surprisingly, neither my sister nor my brother-in-law said much; their attorneys did just about all the talking. Guess they're taking advantage of that "right to remain silent," or whatever.
Anyway, it didn't last long, and they will need to meet again at a later time. Ironically, they meet again on April 8, which happens to be my dad's birthday. Until then, with the exception of my mom, we're not to have any contact whatsoever with either of them. This includes phone calls, text messages, and Facebook messages.
Maybe it's just as well, since I'm not ready to see him anyway and I'm still caught between wanting to hug him and wanting to strangle him.
