I just heard back from the financial aid people at my school, and they told me that while I've maxed out my grant money and subsidized loans, I still qualify for an unsubsidized loan of $5,000. This means I have more money to pay back later on, but at least I'm covered for tuition this fall and next spring. (And I'm hoping to graduate next spring, too.)

At least that's one worry off my mind. At least I can breathe a little more easy now.

However, I'm still going to look for ways to earn money and possibly secure a job. I have a six-month grace period after I graduate to look for work, but it's never too early to poke around. I'm going to need job experience, anyway.

I'll still do commissions, too, as many as I can manage, and I've also been considering self-publishing some short stories on Amazon Kindle. My novels may take a while, and even then I can't pin my hopes on them. But maybe I could start out small and work my way up. I'm not well-known as an author and I would get to keep more of my profits as a self-publisher, but going with a publishing company would mean more publicity.

I also wonder if I could self-publish stories involving some of my characters and still traditionally publish my novels later on. What's your advice, mates?
